Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., blamed the Bush administration for any lack of oversight leading up to the Gulf oil spill. The Obama administration, on the other hand, is blameless.
From Talk Radio News Service:
“Many of the people appointed in the Bush administration are still burrowed in the agencies that are supposed to oversee the [oil] industry,” Pelosi said when asked if Democrats could have prevented or mitigated the crisis by keeping a closer watch on the industry.
Added the Speaker, “the cozy relationships between the Bush administration’s agency leadership and the industry is clear…I’ve heard no complaints from my members about the way the president has handled it,” Pelosi stated.
On Friday, the Washington Examiner requested that Speaker Pelosi’s office release the list of Bush appointees to whom she was referring. We’ll let you know when we hear back.

Hmm. The government is made up of 3 separate but equally powerful branches. Pelosi has been around since the 70s; she's been in Congress since the 80s; she's been in a position of power since the 108th Congress in 2003; she's been the Speaker of the House since 2006. As Speaker, she is two seats removed from the Presidency. She is a powerful woman within her own equally powerful branch of government. Why didn't she have the foresight to stop this oil leak, to ferret out the entrenched Bush oil people, to prevent this disaster? Is she really prepared to be President in the unfortunate event that Obama and Biden are killed or otherwise removed from office? It's quite frightening if you put any thought into it.
NOVEMBER can't come fast enough!!!!

I did hear that Dick Cheney waived the restriction for a secondary emergency shut off as they have in the North Sea.

The US Justice Department and the Los Angeles US Attorney has conviened a secret Criminal Grand Jury in Los Angeles to address the allegations by the EPA that BP had falsified over 350 documents related to air regulatory issues going back 8 years until 2003. In an investigation that has spanned a little over two years, EPA CID Special Agent was stated saying during an interview with a federal witness," Someone is going to jail over this" The EPA, under warrant seized documents and computers from the BP, Carson and Long Beach facilities, as well as contractor documents and computers which were critical to their investigation in 2003. In late 2006, the $500 million dollar (US) civil action related to the case was settled for $350 million (US) in penalties ONLY. All this with the same BP happened in Pelosi's back yard of California and she turned a blind eye to it all and now wants to point fingers? She shouldn't be allowed to say the words BP......
